I've got GU10 lamps all over the house. Loads of the things. And I've been sick and tired of having another bulb blow every week. Thankfully, things are changing...
Here's some simple maths for you. 1500 hours may sound like a reasonable lifespan for a GU10 halogen bulb. That's the average lifespan of a single bulb. The trouble is, if you have 10 of them, that actually means that one is going to fail every 150 hours. Got 100 of them? That's a failure every 15 hours. OK, I've not got 100 of them, but did I mention I'd got loads? The point is that GU10 halogen bulbs are a nightmare. They fail with monotonous regularity and more often than not, they trip out the breaker for the lighting circuit when they do.
If you want GU10 fittings but without the continuous bulb replacement process, you need to look at low energy alternatives. There are plenty of GU10 Compact Flourescent lamps. But I hate them. They're (still) slow to reach full brightness, have a rather... Read more

It looks like LED lights have finally caught up with the old incandescent ones. This does work well - they throw a beam of similar intensity to the old filament GU10 lamps. I can recommend them! They are expensive however. But do a quick back-of-the-envelope calculation and you will see that, with the price of electricity from out ever-popular power companies, they will pay for themselves over a year or two.

I have done a lot of research into LED bulbs and these represent a great value purchase. These are genuine Aurora bulbs, which are a quality brand. I originally mixed a few into a ceiling which had Megaman compact flourescent energy saving bulbs. The Megaman have been consistently failing well before their advertised life expectancy and I decided it was finally time to move to LED. One of these new LED bulbs did fail after a couple of weeks but a replacement was dispatched to me very quickyl with no trouble at all. To me they seem only slightly less bright than an 11W Megaman CFL bulb (which is a 60W equivalent). Very happy overall. I'm just waiting now for dimmable LED GU10 bulbs to come down in price! These are great in the meantime as long as you don't need a dimmer function.

Given its small size, this little unit feels quite sturdy and the angle flexibility should make it quite durable for a range of book sizes. The clip-on facility is useful, and the light is bright enough for allowing you to read without disturbing someone trying to sleep next to you, or say if you're on a late night flight, or camping and you're in a tent. Giving it's lightweight and slim design, it can be carried around easily and can come in useful. I use for bedtime reading, and also when I want to do a crossword when the living room light is dimmed when my other half is watching something on TV in the evening.
At the price, you can't really go wrong. Highly recommended.

This is a great little product. I have bought 2 recently for gifts and they have both been loved. However when removing the plastic tag for the batteries to become live be VERY CAREFUL as in both cases when the plastic tag was pulled all the batteries shot out over the floor!! Other than that a great product.
